VA Birders,
A quick note on highlights observed today. Kim Peacock and I visited a few
locations along the Potomac River (skipping Occ. Bay NWR due to the
anticipated excellent reports). Only a few highlights to add. Greater
Scaup at Belmont Bay as viewed from Mason Neck SP, Two Boneparte's Gulls
where Massey Creek empties into Occoquan Bay (as viewed from the new marina
in Prince William Co)., about a dozen Eastern Phoebes in toto (compared to
the single migrant last week), Brown Thrasher singing in the Possum Point Rd
area, Pine Warbler singing in Leeslyvania SP, and Rusty Blackbird at Aquia
Landing SP. Also noted a couple of Long-tailed Ducks in Maryland waters of
the Potomac R near Aquia Landing but, alas (sorry - I know this word is
grossly over used but it seemed appropriate) they were not in Virginia.
