"Sleeping Surprise" By Lt Sara Crusher Sara left the ready room after telling Andros about the Captain’s orders to lock out the ship’s systems. She was very tired and very sore. Her battle with the Captain’s conduction had finally caught up to her as she pressed the call button for the turbo lift. She paid no attention to the activity on the bridge until she stepped into the lift and turned just as the doors were closing. She glanced around the bridge as people worked to get things back on track and ready for the Captain’s return to the center seat. Then she spotted the Cardassian who had infected the ready room with his presence a few hours before. Sara managed to give him one last nasty look before the turbo lift’s doors sealed her off from her view. Standing against the back wall of the lift, Sara rubbed at the muscles in her upper arms in a failing attempt to revile the cramping. After a few minutes she finally realized that the lift wasn’t moving. "You have to call out you deck dummy." She sighed heavily. "Deck 2." The lift started moving as Sara slide down the wall. She remained in her crouched position with her head on the top of her knees until the lift stopped to reveal the deck where the officers quarters were kept. She was heading right for Cyanah’s quarters. All she could think about was going to her. She had just turned the corner that would take her to her lover ’s cabin when she noticed the strange way a young crew man was looking at her. Sara stopped and looked at herself in one of the control panels in the walls. Her hair was damp from sweating which caused the few stray strands that had escaped her pony tail to either curl or frizz, or both. Her uniform was stained with the Captain's blood and her sweat. Her right hand still bore the marks from her bout with the computer panel in her office and she looked like death warmed over. Turning around rather quickly Sara decided to head to her own quarters first. A few minutes later she was stepping into the darkened living area of her cabin. "Computer lights." The lights slowly started to come on and Sara was more then surprised at what she saw. A large smile crossed her face and her heart swelled at the sight of Cyanah lying on her couch. "She must have come here to wait for me and dozed off." She thought to herself as she crossed the room. She knelt next to her sleeping lover and brushed her check lightly with her fingers. It was a wonderful and welcomed surprise to find Cy there. The last time Sara had checked with the computer she had still be in her own quarters. Sara couldn’t help but laugh a little when she noticed the fact that Cyanah was wearing one of her little sun dresses and that her hair was still slightly wet. Then she remember why she had come to her quarters in the first place. Sara quickly showered, fixed her cut and bruised hand, and changed before coming back out into the living room. Cyanah was still asleep on the couch. Sara sat in a chair across from her after running a tri-corder over her. She was fine and Sara could feel a huge weight lifting from her heart. She was really home and she was safe. Sara picked an empty padd up off the end table and started scribbling down words and phrases that seemed to float to the surface of her mind. As she wrote on the padd she also hummed along to the words as she thought about them. When she noticed Cy moving restlessly on the couch she stopped humming, placed the padd in a desk drawer, and then went over and lied next to her. ~Your home now Imzadi. Your safe.~
