Everyone,
Tomorrow begins our annual over the board championship for blind
players sponsored by the United States Chess Federation.
Registration will be from 9:00-10:00 AM Eastern, translated to
1300-1400 UTC, at which time rounds will commence. I'll try to give
updates on list about the results round by round. And, here's hoping
we can publish the full game scores for everyone to see at some point.
This year's field features folks from various classes, including one
expert level player. The USCF has allotted a great prize sum for first
through third place, class prize winners and an amount for the biggest
upset.
Along with our excellent Skype opportunities both through the USBCA
and internationally, this will give us much loved realtime experience
duking it out in the black and white jungle, cerebral fitness as one
pop hit from the 1980s called it.

By the way, it's never too early to start thinking 2019, budgeting
time and dollars to make the trip for this excellent event. And, as
you meet younger folks--high school, college, et al who are blind or
VI, let them in on this as well. Hey, if someone of any age can
compete on the board and have USCF membership as a blind or VI person,
we want to be one of many stops along your joyous chess playing
journey.
