Yesterday (7-11) ran into a nice flock of shorebirds on the beach north of
Tahkenitch Cr, Douglas Co. It included:
3 RED KNOT
5 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER
3 MARBLED GODWIT
26+ WHIMBREL
and a smattering of peeps. All that I checked were Westerns, but only
looked at a few.
The last two days were pretty active as the system passed through. On 7-10
saw 80-100 WHIMBREL in the Tenmile Cr area of Coos county. Also several
groups of non-vocal DOWITCHER SP.
