Sorry for not mentioning anything else about this BIGFIX. I have become to believe that there isn't any thing that the core group of the forum doesn't know about computer! But know I know better: there is one thing! :-[
I think it could be best described as a special updating service. This has to be one of the few programs I found outside of this group. This is the link where Langa mentions it favorable. He describes it as, "the largest remaining independent, third-party updating service which sniffs your machine's hardware and software, and then makes recommendations as to which patches,...". I am trying to use Big Fix again and when I
re-installed the program I got this message:
"UPDATE: MDAC 2.8 Available Microsoft has released Microsoft Data Access

the same Data Access core components as Microsoft Windows 2003
Server. Please note that this release does not include Microsoft Jet, the

Since it is 5.3MB and doesn't give me a clue what it
is, I hope someone can explain exactly what it, and the other things
listed are and do I really need it.
