Chuck wisely pointed out that programs will write to your registry in such a way that even after uninstalling the application remnants are left in the registry. There is a utility which monitors all the changes made to your OS when you install any application through its interface. Doing so will enable your removal of all traces of said program when uninstalling it. You must use "Total Uninstall" to monitor the installation and only then can it work during removal.
