Brian, Aida does not install to your PC, it merely
works through an executable file "aida32.e x e" or a
shortcut to it.

Just delete your old Aida subdirectory and unzip the
newer version, make a new shortcut to your desktop or
to wherever you want to place it.

That's all! As to the ini file of which cuffy makes
mention I don't think it's crucial to inherit it, just
select your new preferences and a new one will be made,
or just inherit the old one..., whatever.

But the point is that Aida makes no changes or
additions to your registry.
