This might be a gelechiidae species, but you have not answered about labial
palps extending above the head, the scaled proboscis, and whether the hind
wings are slightly incised near the tip. From the wingspan, I can only guess
forewing length is about 6 or 7mm.

That one wingspan was 16 mm the next one is 14 mm. I will attach photos. I
hope can solve the mystery. They were collected Sept. 8-2006 and Sept.
1-2006 in Hart co. Kentucky.

Oh, yes, and wing span not an accurate measurement. Forewing length base to
tip is what systemetists use when describing a species or trying to identify
one. This is because wingspan is variable by the position of the wings when
mounted and is affected by the size of the thorax, but forewing length is
always consistent.
