Kris looks like a Radcliffe Dagger Moth.

Rich,

I thought I had put photos of my mystery moths on that email, I guess I had a
"senior moment"! :)

Here are 2 of the ones I'm having trouble with. I think #9212 is the same that
Jean has. Thanks!

Kris I doubt you have a Gray Dagger. These moths are found in the north as far
south as the Great Lakes and Mssachusetts. Do you have a photo of the moth?

Thanks, Rich! It was probably the False Underwing because it was small.

I got a couple of moths last night that I'm not sure about. I'm attaching
photos in hopes that someone can help me ID them. The Pyralid was on the
ceiling of the carport, so I was not able to get very close. There are several
Dagger moths that look similar, I'm having a hard time with that one.
I've attached the Azalea Leafminer because it is a new one for me. It is a very
tiny moth, I almost missed it!

Other moths I saw last night include:

04652 – Tortricidia testacea – Early Button Slug Moth 4-20-11

09212 – Acronicta grisea – Gray Dagger Moth 4-20-11 (maybe?)

01011 – Antaeotricha schlaegeri – Schlaeger's Fruitworm Moth 4-20-11

09678 – Elaphria versicolor – Variegated Midget Moth 4-20-11

05226 – Palpita magniferalis – Splendid Palpita Moth 4-20-11

The Underwing if it is large more likely Locust Underwing if it was small more
likley False Underwing. It is to early for the true (Catacola) Underwings.

"E" means east, "W" is west, and "B" is both. I like having that on MPG,
because I can ignore the W ones. It isn't part of the Hodges number.

I had an underwing tonight, but it was too hyper to even get a glimpse of it,
much less a photo! There were several Spring moths and the usual flies, beetles
(which were annoying the heck out of me by getting in my hair!!!), and the
weird weevil.

I've been working on IDs and have come across a couple that I'm not sure
about. I'd appreciate help with the attached photos. I think they may be:

  3597 – Argyrotaenia velutinana – Red-banded Leafroller Moth

9037 – Hyperstrotia pervertens – Dotted Graylet Moth

Others I have seen this week include:

  8134 – Spilosoma congrua – Agreeable Tiger Moth 4-20-11

  07855 - Hemaris diffinis Snowberry Clearwing 4-19-11

  0592 – Caloptilia azaleella – Azalea Leafminer Moth 4-20-11

  5159 – Desmia funeralis – Grape Leaffolder Moth 4-19-11

  05226 - Palpita magniferalis Splendid Palpita 4-20-11

  6588 E – Iridopsis larvaria – Bent-line Gray Moth 4-19-11

Why do some of the Hodges numbers have the "E" designation? Is that necessary
for us to add?
