Oh my....I wonder how many people driving around east Tennessee have seen strange people on their porches or in their yards taking photos at night...... I'm on my front porch doing that most nights now...I know Audrey is....guess you are too? *L* The moth is on a window screen. Of course, I have no idea what the distance between squares is. I do hope to go back there next winter, so I could measure it then!! I may have an id on it soon...I contacted someone who did work on moths in Belize about 5-8 years ago. He put it in the family Castniidae and gave me a person to contact who might bring it to species. I'll let you know what I find out. Love the mantidfly pic!!! What is the background the moth is sitting on? That looks like a great way to tell how big it is! Even better than Larry's sheet! :) I had an interesting visitor to the porch lights last night. It was a Mantidfly! I had never seen a live one before, only images in my books. I have the photo posted on my blog: http://blog.easttennesseewildflowers.com/ The Patent Leather beetle with the hitchhiking mites was interesting too. Isn't nature incredible?! :) Kris Light ----- Original Message ----- From: "Avian Pursuits Nature Tours" <naturetours@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: tn-moths@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, June 11, 2010 12:45:53 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: [tn-moths] Belize moth No, I don't expect anyone to be able to identify it, but I want to share this creature with the TN-Moth group! http://www.flickr.com/photos/avian_pursuits/4691254560/ David Trently Avian Pursuits Nature Tours ...come see the real world!
