Hello all;
The 7th annual Stevenson, Alabama butterfly count will be held on
Saturday, July 25. Stevenson is only about a 45 minute drive from
Chattanooga, not all that far from the Tennessee state line. It is also
within easy driving distance from middle TN, so everyone is invited to
participate. As always a $3 NABA fee will be collected from each
participant. Keep in mind that this is an all-day count, but if you can
only stay for 2-3 hours, come and help out anyway. For the past few
years, this is the only count that has been done in the state of
Alabama. This will be the last of my scheduled NABA 4th of July counts
this year. It is usually a good one.
Here are two choices of meeting spots:
If you are coming from Chattanooga:
- take I-24W towards Nashville;
- Take the Brown's Ferry exit, #175;
- Turn right on Brown's Ferry Rd., go about I/2 mile and we'll
meet at Food Lion on the left at 9:00 Eastern time;
- We can caravan from there to Stevenson.
- Be prompt, as I won't wait long after 9:00 to leave for
Stevenson!
If you wish to meet in Stevenson, AL:
- Take I-24 to the South Pittsburg exit;
- Turn right on Hwy. 72 and proceed to Stevenson;
- Once you reach Stevenson, take the Hwy. 117 exit (there is a
bridge over Hwy. 72 here. It is the center of the count circle);
- Turn right on Hwy. 117 towards Stevenson;
- In less than a mile, you'll see a sign for Stevenson City
Park, turn left into the park;
- We'll meet at 10:00 Eastern time at the first parking lot
when you come into the park, near swimming pool and tennis courts.
