This Saturday, June 20, will be the Reelfoot Lake Count starting at 9:30. We
will meet at the Visitors Center. This count monitors two rare species for
Tennessee, Broad-winged Skipper and Bronze Copper, which has been seen the past
4 years on the count. Reelfoot is the most reliable spot in the state for
these species, so it is a great chance for you to add them to your life list if
you haven't seen them before. And with Reelfoot being on the western edge of
Tennessee, it can also bring surprise species, like last year's Reakirt's Blue,
so maybe it will be something else new and exciting this year.

The weather forecast has been a little back and forth, but the latest ones seem
to indicate a partly cloudy day with only a 20% chance of PM Rain, but the high
temps are expected to be in the low 90s. We will eat lunch at the Pit BBQ
restaurant and end the count no later than 5:00. Be sure to bring plenty of
water and sunscreen. If you plan to participate, please let me know. If we
get rained out Saturday, I will try on Sunday to do the count and anyone is
welcome to join me then.

Hope to see you Saturday!
