IMHO, these wasps are as much a part of the balance of nature as the
butterflies are so you should leave them alone.

Ichneumon Wasp Trogus pennator
We waited and wondered why one of our Spicebush Chrysalides took two months and
still did not eclose. Instead, a red wasp crawled from a hole in the side of
the chrysalis. These red wasps patrol my flower garden all summer. I thought
they were just looking for prey to eat.
Does anyone recommend destroying the wasps? This is a banner year for them in
my garden.
