Take a look at the third shot on the Northern Cloudywing page . The spots look brighter than they should for a Northern but since the 'fly is backlit, it's hard to be sure. There really aren't enough spots for a Southern but I've seen plenty of butterflies recently that didn't have enough of the markings that they're supposed to have. http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/images?l=1948 The main thing that doesn't look right to me are the antennal clubs. The shot isn't great but I'm pretty sure that I can see white spots at the bend of the clubs which would make it a Southern. Anyone else seeing what I'm seeing? Are the spots there or is a trick of the light?
