Saturday was an absolutely perfect day and the butterflyin' was good. The results of the fall count at Meeman-Shelby Forest are below. We had good numbers of Phaon Crescents and Pearl Crescents; decent numbers of Little Yellow, Dainty Sulphur and Least Skipper; continued high numbers for Common Checkered-Skipper; but the best thing was the THREE Ocola Skippers. This species is seen periodically in the fall, but I had never seen more than one on any given occasion before. Already looking forward to the 2013 Counts! Bart JonesMemphis, Shelby Co.
