Butterflies have been becoming more abundant around my house with more
flowers blooming. Yesterday (7/8/09) at my house here in Ringgold, GA (just
south of Chattanooga), I found a hairstreak which I'm pretty sure isn't a
Banded. First of all my overall impression was that it was much pales (more
of a yellowish tone) compared to all the Banded Hairstreaks that I've seen.
Also the postmedian band seems to have more white on the inner edge then any
Banded that I've seen. Any opinions as to what it is (I'm not entirely
positive that it isn't a Banded) would be much appreciated. Also I found
this Horace's Duskywing which was quite dazzling in the sunlight. I knew
that they could have pinkish iridescence but I had never seen the green!
When it would turn just right the was a gorgeous greenish sheen to the
underside of the forewing!

Thanks - and Good Butterflying!
