Hello Everyone,
It is finally time to start another season of butterfly counting! This
Saturday will be the spring Clifton Bend count. We will meet at the parking
area of Carroll Cabin Barrens SNA at 9:30 AM. Please bring lunch to eat in the
field and don't forget your bug spray as ticks can be a problem here. The
butterflies emerged early this year, so we might not see some of the early
spring species like Falcate Orangetips, Henry's Elfin, or Spring Azures, but
maybe there will be a few stragglers. I know the number of butterflies flying
here in the Memphis area has been massive this spring, so I'm hoping for the
same Saturday. The weather forecast looks good, partly cloudy with a high in
the mid sixties. Since this is a seasonal count, we need to have at least 4
participants, so please let me know if you plan to attend.
See you Saturday!
