Wanda DeWaard coordinated the first Blount County Butterfly Count on June 28,
2021. Over half the circle is in Great Smoky Mountains NP including all of
Cades Cove. 54 individuals in 15 parties identified 51 species and 1894
individual butterflies. Highlights were 1 Coral hairstreak, 1 Pepper and Salt
skipper, and a Southern pearly-eye, only the third record from Great Smoky
Mountains NP.
