I wasn't there so I can't be sure, but that looks like a day flying moth
that I have also seen there at Longpine Key. It is called the Faithful Beauty.
Very pretty moth. You really won't see Atalas unless there is coontie around.

Subject: [TN-Butterflies] Atala Butterfly in Florida
These are bad pictures of a rare Atala butterfly which caught me by
surprise when I was at Longpine Key Campground in the Everglades a couple of
days ago. It was just past 7 AM when the butterfly was attracted to my
yellow shirt. It flew away and I was able to get these blurred photos
before it left. It was strikingly beautiful. There were no flowers
blooming in the area.
