Roan Mountain, TN. Yr. 16, 36°06'N, 82°07'W, center at Carvers Gap,
Carter Co., TN, and Mitchell Co., NC. 18 July 2009; 1000-1800 hrs; sun
AM 10%, PM 10%; 53-68°F; wind 0-5 mi/hr. 9 observers in 1 party. Total
party-hours 7; total party-miles on foot 2. Observers: G. Derouen, D.
Draper, D. Holt, A. Mattes, L. McDaniel, J. McGuinness, B. Potter, J.
Potter, K. Stroud.
    Pipevine Swallowtail 20, Black Sw. 1, Cabbage White 7, Clouded
Sulphur 1, Orange Su. 6, E. Tailed-Blue 33, Variegated Fritillary 1,
Gr. Spangled Fr. 1, Aphrodite Fr. 1, Meadow Fr. 4, Pearl Crescent 17,
Question Mark 1, Com. Buckeye 3, Viceroy 1, Com. Wood-Nymph 2, Monarch
2, Silver-spotted Skipper 9, Com. Sootywing 1, Clouded Sk. 1, Little
Glassywing 1, Sachem 1. Unidentified: Speyeria sp. 4. Total 21 species,
118 individuals.


Cold and cloudy, but a nice day nonetheless.  I am not sure the report
shows the correct number of years for the count, by my calculations it
was supposed to be the 17th annual, but I could be wrong - I'll
straighten it out eventually.  Next year the Roan Mtn. count will be on
July 17, 2010.
