A few notes on recent observations in west Knox Co, TN (unless noted) over the last few days. Only one non-yellow-rumped warbler so far. Green Heron - 1 flyover at Pellissippi State Campus, 9 April 2013 Red-eyed Vireo - 1 singing in our woods on 10 April that I eventually tracked down visually after 15+ min of searching interupted by a Cooper's Hawk strafing. Ties early arrival date for our yardlist. Red-breasted Nuthatch - 1 at our feeders on 31 March and again on 3 April. This species showed up here in late Sept but only infrequently seen at the feeders throughout the winter. Brown Creeper - 1 in our woods on 3 April, new late date for our yardlist Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - about 6 pairs on territory along the new, paved trail connecting Haw Ridge Park and the Melton Hill Greenway in Anderson Co on 6 April. Finally got my first at home on 10 April.
