Hi Wallace,

Good seeing you at the PIF meeting! Here is the posting for the jobs I was
telling you about. I really appreciate you passing this along--summer is
almost here and I don't have enough people yet.

Thanks again,
Rachel

I am hiring 2 point counters and 9 field technicians for the summer (approx.
May 19-Aug 9). For point counters, priority will be given to those who can
live on site (or already live nearby) and assist with other field work all
summer; but point counters who can only commit to point counts during the
month of June will also be considered. Applicants must be able to do lots of
uphill hiking.

POINT COUNTERS (2) AND TECHNICIANS (9) needed for bird studies in the
beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Randoph County, WV. Studies pertain to
the dispersal of juvenile songbirds, effects of timber management on forest
songbird populations, habitat partitioning of thrushes, and abundance of
raptors. Salary: experienced point counters $1200/month, technicians
$600-$1000/month, based on specific bird experience. Field housing is
provided with kitchen, bathroom, bunk beds. Must be willing to drive own
vehicle ~20 miles/day, will be reimbursed for gas. Four-wheel drive helpful
but not necessary. Primary duties include nest searching 6 days per week in
May and Jun, vegetation sampling 5 days per week in Jul and Aug, with some
mist-netting, radio-tracking, raptor surveying, and data entry throughout
the summer. Must be in good physical condition and willing to work
independently 8-10 hours per day hiking in rugged terrain under often rainy
conditions. Must be a responsible individual that can live amicably in
crowded conditions (ie, do your own dishes). Driver safety training, CPR and
first aid certification, and additional training will be provided. Send
cover letter, resume, and names of 2 references by email attachment to
racheldellinger@xxxxxxxxxxxx If email is not available, send to Rachel
Dellinger, Coop. Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, P.O. Box 6125, Morgantown,
WV 26506. Inquiries call Rachel Dellinger at (304) 293-3794 ext. 2316.
