It's that time of year when the morning wave has more and more Yellow-rumps and fewer and fewer of everything else. Still, had a pretty decent morning in the yard today (west Knox Co., 11 Oct). Highlight was an Ovenbird in the pokeberry patch, a first visual sighting for the yard though I hear them often back in the woods in spring. 3 other warblers including a handful of "Myrtle" Yellow-rumps, a Black-throated Green and a Magnolia. A White-eyed Vireo and the first Ruby-crowned Kinglets of the fall were the other goodies during about 15-20 minutes of looking before work.
