A Foray (i.e., a survey of breeding birds) to White County, Tennessee,
will be conducted 25-28 May 2007, repeating a similar event that took
place a quarter century earlier--28-31 May 1982--in White County, which
is located about 20 miles south of Cookeville.

Birders from around Tennessee are welcome to join Upper Cumberland
Region birders for this event. The data from this year's foray will be
compared to the data that derived from the earlier foray. Seldom has
there been an opportunity to make such a comparison of county-wide
breeding bird populations separated by two and a half decades of time,
so the results obtained this year should aid greatly in efforts to
understand the changing status of many bird species in Middle Tennessee.

Some information relating to the White County Foray may be viewed at
this page of my website:

If you have an interest in joining those who are participating in this
event, contact me or Doug Downs (douglas_downs@xxxxxxxxxxx), and we will
set you up with an area to survey over the Memorial Day week-end.

Good bird counting,

Steve Stedman
