Not in defense of myself, but a Brown Booby certainly COULD turn up at Cove
Lake State Park. Yes. I know it is a long shot.
Another reason I could not get a good look was because of the forest fire here
on the mountain above Cove Lake. The smoke and record breaking heat was causing
some distortion, however, the
whole look of the bird was not my usual Comorants that are on that post/ log
out in the lake. The lower white belly area was very demarcate as well as the
bird looked chunkier than a Cormorant. Again, not in defense but stranger
things have happened. Those of you that know me know I don't "post lightly". My
intent was to alert local birders it's worth looking at the lake tomorrow.
I will be at the lake early in the morning for a search.
