An immature White Ibis kicked off the wading bird season at
Paddle Creek Pond in eastern Sullivan County, TN Friday, 10 July 2015.
I found the bird as it was feeding in the grass along the shore between
the duck blind and road. At 2:55 p.m. it took flight towards the dam,
circled very high and departed towards the river. This is a rare summer
species for Northeast Tennessee with only a few records for June or July.
