Jimmy Tucker and I spent most of the day yesterday (December 10) searching for
migrating waterfowl and other birds in west Knoxville. In total we had 62
species, 14 of which were waterfowl: American Coot, Bufflehead, Canada Goose,
Gadwall, Green-winged Teal, Hooded Merganser, Horned Grebe, Lesser Scaup,
Mallard, Northern Shoveler, Pied-billed Grebe, Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, Ruddy
Duck, Wood Duck, and possibly Common Goldeneye. Today (December 11) I added two
more species from south Knoxville: Snow Goose and Red-breasted Merganser.
