Windy, but not too cold later in the day Pace Point disappointing, no gull roost, all the larids out on the lake. Did find a flock of 20 Pine Siskins. Lake choppy and distant viewing difficult. Bennett's Creek - no sign of Golden Eagle. All 3 mergansers still present Britton Ford - all 5 goose species still present I saw a raptor soaring over the road between the kiosk and the BC Overlook Definitely a buteo, tail not banded, may have been rusty but not the color of adult RT Hawk. Head dark with dark throat. Breast light with no belly band Wings showed about half black , half light, dark feathers on the posterior wing. NOT a dark trailing edge By plumage, light phase Swainson's Hawk is the only match. On the downside, wrong time of year, plus I did not notice any difference in wing shape from RT Hawk. Never even considered Swainson's when watching it, just tried to get as many field marks as I could Probably an aberrant RT, but who knows???? Cheers Terry Witt Murfreesboro Tn
