A quick (and delayed) report from Oak Ridge/Kingston:
At "The Swamp" on the Oak Ridge Reservation (near Hwy 58 and Bear
Creek Road), on Tuesday (Mar. 11) had four VESPER SPARROWS feeding on a
gravel path, one female PURPLE MARTIN, two AMER. BLACK DUCKS, along with
numerous gadwalls, mallards, Canada Geese, Wood Ducks, and one Amer.
Wigeon, Flickers, Phoebe, Bluebirds, etc. (No sign of Red-headed WPs or
B-H Nuthatches.)
At Kingston Steam Plant on Wednesday (Mar. 13): Bird matters were
very dead despite one OSPREY, with fish in talons, one WILSON'S SNIPE,
numerous Ea. Meadowlarks, Song Sparrows, Killdeer, Red-wing. Blackbirds,
one Grackle.
At home in Oak Ridge, two attached ticks and several mosquitoes.
TOO EARLY to contend this kind of stuff!

Oak Ridge, TN
