Feb. 21, 2004 Pickwick Dam Hardin, Co. TN Saturday mourning a 2-1/2 hour vigil at the dam netted good looks at the Thayer's for a total of 10 minutes. All the gates are closed so there is little for the gulls below the dam. There were about 100 Ring-billed and Herring Gulls feeding below the dam and about 200 roosting above the dam. There were a few more ducks above the dam and about 9 or 10 Common Loons. The wet hole at Savannah held about 40 Ring-billed Gulls and 4 variously aged Herrings, again I had no Bonaparte's all week end long. The ducks in this hole were another story with 243 REDHEADS (what a wonderful collection of birds) among 13 other species of waterfowl. Good Birding!!! Jeff R.
