Many, many thanks to Danny and Anita Gaddy, Gary and Pixie Latham, and the
entire Chattanooga chapter for a splendid Spring Meeting weekend. With
several recent renovations, the Southside area of Chattanooga is becoming a
vibrant and fun place to visit. The Crash Pad, The Greenspace, and The Well
were extremely fun venues to host the reception, the board meeting, and the
banquet, respectively. Even if you don't plan to go birding in the
Chattanooga area any time soon, make plans to visit Southside. We loved it!!
Although Sunday morning rains dampened trips a little bit, the spring
migration was in full swing. Besides the welcome return of our spring
warblers and other newly arriving migrants, many of us were treated
Saturday evening to "Dueling simultaneous calls" of a Whip-poor-will and a
Chuck-wills-widow.....a veritable nightjar bonanza!! A compilation of the
totals this weekend should be forthcoming.
I'm certainly looking forward to seeing everyone again in Manchester for
the Fall Meeting currently scheduled for Oct 5-7. Details will be posted in
the near future.
Thanks again to the Chattanooga chapter and to all of the attendees. Always
a fun weekend when we get together!
