A Swallow-tailed Kite was still present, hunting over fields along Gardiner Rd.
In Shelby Farms, when I left the area at 2:45 today, Monday, Aug. 26. Cliff
VanNostrand said it had been there since 10:00 this morning; yesterday he and
others observed it from about 10 a.m. til around 2:00. Today we was observed it
hunting low over the grassy areas and along the tall hedge line north of the
road, and occasionally higher; it would disappear, sometimes behind the tree
line towards Walnut Grove Rd., and reappear, so watch the whole area.
Mississippi Kites are numerous, and two Red-tailed Hawks were present also.
Good Birding!
