It's been a few years since I heard a Swainson's thrush in my yard; this
morning I stepped out on the guest room deck and one was singing up a storm
in the woods maybe 30 feet away. Plus I heard my first Bay-breasted
warbler. They and Cape Mays show up here when the tulip poplars are in
bloom, and although the trees bloomed early this year, there are still some
blossoms left.
My FOY Yellow-billed cuckoo and Great-crested flycatcher showed up
mid-week. Still waiting on the Chuck-will-widows, Summer tanagers, Vireos,
and Wood thrushes.
And the turkeys have been busy and vocal, and a hen is clucking up in my
woods.
