Monday Feb, 28, 2008

Sunday Feb 27, my wife Eula, daughter Kathy and I visited the Big Sandy
National Wildlife Refuge from about eleven Am until about two thirty PM.

At Britton Ford overlook we had about 100 Ruddy ducks and about 75
Canvasback ducks and one Great Blue Heron.

At Rocky Point we had about twenty five Horned Grebes-many males were
already in breeding colors, about twenty Bufflehead Ducks a few of these males
also
had breeding colors, a few Ring-billed Gulls and two Common Loons.

At Pace Point we saw one Bald Eagle, one Winter Wren, one Fox Sparrow,
twenty five Ringed-billed Gulls, tem Canada Geese, about fifteen Mallard Ducks,

Ten Horned Grebes, a few Bufflehead Ducks, two Great Blue Herons, and two
Common
Loons-these may have bee the same two loons we saw from Rocky Point as they
were over closer toParis Landing than they were tp Pace Point.

Wind made the water somwhat choppy and cold but othewise a clear day.
