**TOS Fall Meeting and Symposium -- Oct 12-14, 2012** This morning I got to see one of the Scissor-tailed flycatchers reported by Tony Lance in Springfield TN. At 9:45 AM the bird was on a low willow tree just at the Bridge where Carr Creek passes under Batson Blvd. It flew toward Kumar Blvd and up the hill between Batson and Kumar. I went up Kumar and found it again perched low on a fence wire. Though Kumar has a regular street sign, it dead ends at a house where there is a wide turn around. From there the bird flew down the hill and toward the bridge again. Thanks to Tony for finding this bird so close to my home! One was in the same exact area as before, across the road from the entrance to Highland Crest College; the other was maybe a quarter-mile away perched on a fence alongside Batson Blvd. Having had three sightings over the span of a month, and now having confirmed that two birds are present, I'm wondering if perhaps they nested or attempted to nest. > > Tony Lance > Springfield, TN > > > On Jul 26, 2012, at 8:22 PM, Tony Lance wrote: > >> Late this afternoon, around 5:45, I spotted a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher on Batson Blvd. in Springfield just across the road from the entrance to Highland Crest College. It was atop some weedy plants and gave me really good looks before it flew out into the field and landed on a fence. I suspect this bird has been in that area for a while because about two weeks ago at nearly the same spot I got a very brief glimpse of what I thought was a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, but when I turned around and came back to look for it I couldn't find it, so I figured I had been mistaken. This is my first sighting of this species here in Robertson County. >> >> Tony Lance >> Springfield, TN >> >> >> > * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 2012 FALL MEETING AND SYMPOSIUM AT NASHVILLE October 12-14 The Nashville Chapter of the TOS will host TOS members and all other interested birders to the Fall Meeting and Symposium on October 12-14, 2012.
