Hello, Today I worked from home. Whenever I was up out of my chair, I would stop at the window to check out the feeder area. The bird creek seemed to be a very popular place - I added water first thing this morning after noticing a "large congregation" of birds trying to find water in the ice. Throughout the day, I noticed 24 different species - not too bad for quick looks out the window. Highlights included one Purple Finch and one Yellow-rumped Warbler. The local juvenile Red-tailed Hawk visited at least once. It sat at the edge of the woods looking toward the feeders. The Brown-headed Cowbirds have started to show up along with some European Starlings and a single Red-winged Blackbird. I'm sure they will begin telling all their friends that Baker's Birdy Bed & Breakfast (aka My Place) is again open this season. Soon, I will need to rename it Baker's Bankrupt Blackbird Backyard Buffet. Missing today were the Pine Siskins. I did not see them anytime I stopped by the window. Come to think of it, I didn't have any American Robins, either.
