Announcing the second running of the
REELFOOT to MEMPHIS LABOR DAY WEEKEND BIRDING ADVENTURE.

WHERE: Tiptonville, TN at the Marathon Gas Station at the Southeast Corner of
Carl Perkins Pkwy(TN-78) and Lake Dr. (TN-21)
LENGTH OF ADVENTURE: All Day
COST: Whatever it cost you for Transportation, food, water, drinks, lodging.
It’s up to you.

WHAT’s IN IT FOR YOU: A long great day of birding the Mississippi Flyway.
HISTORY:
Last year on a whim, I put out and invite on the TENNESSEE BIRDING Facebook
page to see who would be interested in doing this all day event. We had over
1000 members on the page and I wanted to see who would go and what would
happen. I don’t remember the exact number but about 12 individuals from Middle
and West Tennessee answered the challenge. We had a great day travelling and
birding from Reelfoot Lake down the Mississippi River and ending up at the Pits
in Memphis. We saw lots of birds including Least Tern, Alder Flycatcher,
Caspian Tern, Black-billed Cuckoo, Baird’s Sandpiper, Red Knot just to name a
few. Several members of the original group ask me to organize this event again.
They also said they would like it to become and annual event. Well we will see
about that. I said I would organize it so we are off and running.

All transportation and food and lodging is on you. We meet we bird. Bring your
Binoculars, Scopes, Cameras, Field Guides, Birding Apps, food, water,
sunscreen. Whatever you need. All birders welcome. We don’t care if you are a
beginner or a world travelling UBER birder come and join in on a great day of
birding. If you don’t have a scope, don’t worry we are glad to share.
Places we bird will be determined by weather conditions and best habitat at the
time.
