Nashville, Davidson Co., TN 2015 January 6 4:10 pm On my way home Tuesday evening I stopped at the Walter S. Davis Blvd marsh behind TSU to check on the ducks. However, more interesting was the pecking order show put on by the raptors. A COOPER'S HAWK flew toward a tree line that held dozens of AMERICAN CROWs. When it flew through the trees, a couple crows took after the hawk as it continued on its way. Just a couple minutes later a RED-TAILED HAWK sailed by the marsh. As I watched it fly away, an AMERICAN KESTREL took after it and dive bombed it 4-5 times before the hawk finally landed in a distant tree. Then the kestrel flew back to the far side of the marsh lake presumably very satisfied with the interaction.
