Shorebird numbers were up yesterday, with 12 species, including FOS, for me,
Short-billed Dowitcher, Stilt Sandpiper, Western Sandpiper, Semipalmated Plover
(32 - most I've seen here), and a lone Ruddy Turnstone (first reported by Rick
Knight on 8/10). Also seen: Caspian Tern and Little Blue Heron. Continuing
high number of Great Egrets; we didn't see Double-crested Cormorants with them
this time, apparently they're now roosting on an island in the Nolichucky River.
For best viewing at current lake elevation, bring a boat or a scope.
