Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Davidson Co., TN
2013 October 7
7:15-9:40 am
cool and clear, a bit of fog on the lake

With the front coming through yesterday, I went to Radnor to
look for migrants. Jan Shaw soon caught up with me as we found
a nice flock of warblers along the dirt road into the dam area.
Perhaps the best bird of the day was a CANADA WARBLER that had
almost no necklace, which we found at the dam. Jan and I eventually
split up but between us we had 12 warbler species, including a
GOLDEN-WINGED. Jan had 2 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERs at the dam after
we separated. I got only a couple SWAINSON'S THRUSHes today
compared with much larger numbers last week, but still heard
several RED-BREASTED GROSBEAKs and saw plenty of CHIMNEY SWIFTS.
I finished with 38 species.

Birds of interest included:
Blue-winged Teal 28
Double-crested Cormorant 4
E. Wood-Pewee 2
E. Phoebe 1
Philadelphia Vireo 3
Red-eyed Vireo 1
Swainson's Thrush 2
Cedar Waxwing 16
Golden-winged Warbler 1
Tennessee Warbler 7
Common Yellowthroat 1
Am. Redstart 2
N. Parula 1
Magnolia Warbler 5
Bay-breasted Warbler 7
Blackburnian Warbler 2
Chestnut-sided Warbler 2
Black-throated Green 7
Canada Warbler 1
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 4
