Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Davidson Co.
Nashville, TN
Friday 2009 May 15
6:50-9:30 am

The ides of May proved providential. As I walked around the
lake, two birders reported to me their discovery of singing
CONNECTICUT WARBLERs at Radnor Lake this Friday morning,
one near Bench 10 along the Lake Trail and another
up the road toward the Hall Tract. I managed to hear one
of the two and get a brief glimpse of him as he chased
another bird. A pair of PROTHONOTARY WARBLERs provided
a wonderful splash of color at the start of the road to
the dam. After seeing MOURNING WARBLERs for 4 straight
days, I did not hear or see one today. Birding was slow
around the lake, except for the road toward the Hall
Tract, which had a lot of action. Of the 11 species of
warblers that I saw or heard, 9 were found along the
road toward the Hall Tract. After seeing an adult
BALD EAGLE at Radnor the past two days, I missed it this
morning.

Warblers of interest included
Tennessee 1
Magnolia 1
Black throated Green 1
Yellow throated 1
Prothonotary 2 a pair
Louisiana Waterthrush 2
Kentucky 1
Connecticut 1
Common Yellowthroat 1
Hooded 1
Canada 1
