Feb. 7, 2014 J. Percy Priest Lake, Davidson Co. TN

This morning Jan Shaw & I checked a few Priest Lake sites. Very cold,
but viewing conditions were good with high overcast and almost no
wind. Highlights:

At Cook Rec Area the male Long-tailed Duck reported by Terry Witt was
found, out at some distance but ID-able. 9 Com. Goldeneye.

At 7 Points 1 pair Com. Mergansers were present, in good light and not
out as far as we had them (if same birds) last week. At one point an
adult Bald Eagle was in the same scope vview, plus another adult BAEA
was seen near-by. Also here 6 N. Pintail (3 pair) , very uncommon on
Priest.

At Anderson Road Rec Area, viewing from the point, we had 10
White-winged Scoters, probably the same group of 10 from last week
(?). A panoramaic scan from here yeilded 47 Com. Loons (total for the
morning from all sites visited was 87).
