I had what appears to be a Ross's Goose at Whooping Crane Farm this morning. (That's the farm on Cleece's Ferry Rd. just off Old Hickory Blvd. on the way to Bells Bend Park where two Whooping Cranes wintered a few years ago.) It was with a flock of Canada Geese. I had pretty good looks and everything looked right. The bill was small, the base wasn't curved and I saw no grin patch, but the bird's bill had mud on it so this latter field mark might have been obscured. Size-wise, the bird looked right too. If anyone goes to see this bird, a scope would be advisable.
