I just got a call from Steve Clendenen saying they had the Brown Pelican at Ft
Loudon Dam. That was at about 12:40 Sunday. They had checked Poplar Springs
boat ramp where Sharon reported the bird first but found it above the dam.
There's a lot of water to check if you don't find the bird right away, be
patient. Hoping to make it down there tomorrow, though not sure what Memorial
Day festivities will be going on at the park.

To answer Sharon's question, this would be a first-year bird hatched last
summer. These young birds have a tendency to wander and can show up in some
odd places.
