[TN-Bird] Orchard Orioles, other yard birds, Moore County

A few scattered notes from my yard:
Had my FOS Orchard Oriole yesterday, 4/24/07, in my yard in Lynchburg.
There were three of them--two males and either a female or a first-year
male (didn't get a good look at it)--working over the coral
honeysuckle. They seem to have stayed around for a few hours in the
morning, but I haven't seen them since. A new yard bird for me!

Two Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, one male & one female, have also been
visiting these plants, although now that I've got my feeders out, they
don't seem as interested in the real flowers. Am I making them lazy?

For the first time, I had the opportunity to view a Eurasian
Collard-dove in the presence of a Mourning Dove yesterday, as they both
came into the yard at the same time. The collard-dove is enormous--it
made the Mourning Dove look so petite. Interesting to see the size
difference.

Chimney Swifts have arrived over the past week or ten days. They don't
live in our yard, but we hear their cheerful twittering and enjoy their
aerial acrobatics as they forage overhead.

White-throated Sparrows are still here.

Carolina Wrens have fledged their first brood. I saw two adults and
five young Sunday (4/23). In the past they have nested in our shed,
but it must be too easy for the feral cats to find them there; I
haven't found their current nest site. I have also noticed some young
House Sparrows out and about. (Alas!)

My hackberry and mulberry trees are still black from the freeze. I
wonder if they'll still be able to bear fruit this year...

Cheers!
