28 December 2010 TN-Birders: Since everyone has been in a mood to write to government officials regarding crane hunting, here is another chance to let your voice be heard on another matter. The Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (NMBCA) has expired, and needs your support for reauthorization. The NMBCA builds and supports international partnerships to protect migratory bird populations through habitat restoration, research, and education. The program has proven to be successful in catalyzing partnerships and capacity building for Neotropical migratory bird conservation across the Western Hemisphere. President Obama has requested $4 billion for the program for 2011, a 20% reduction from the Act's 2010 budget. Please contact your Senators today and tell them to support S.690, a bi-partisan bill introduced by Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Mike Crapo (R-ID), to reauthorize the NMBCA. Thank you!
