Walter S. Davis Blvd Marsh Nashville, Davidson Co., TN 2015 Feb. 11 4:20 pm Leaving work Wednesday afternoon I stopped briefly at the Walter S. Davis Blvd Marsh on the back side of the Tenn. State Univ. campus. As I was leaving the marsh, I noticed a long low line of birds in the distance toward downtown Nashville. I pull my car onto the shoulder of the road, rolled down my window, and quickly pointed my binoculars at the group to find a loose V-formation of 130+ SANDHILL CRANEs. Several of them gave their distinctive calls as they continued their flight north. My timing was been perfect. A couple minutes later or earlier and I would have missed them. Indeed, I had missed seeing them in Davidson Co. last year, so this was a most enjoyable sighting.
