Shelby Bottoms, Andersen Recreation Area Fitness Trail and Old Hickory Dam
(Davidson Co., TN)
9am-5pm

Took a quick look around the Nashville area Sunday for some good birds recently
reported on the Hickory/Priest CBC. After searching most of the morning,
Phillip Casteel and I could not relocate the LeConte's Sparrows at Shelby
Bottoms, however we did find a couple of SEDGE WRENS. Despite not having
explicit directions I found my way to the Andersen Rec. Area Fitness Trail on
the west side of Percy Priest Lake. It was surprisingly well-signed coming from
I-40. However, in spite of an intensive 3 hour search I could not relocate the
Merlin seen here on the count. Batting 0-2 I decided to try Old Hickory Dam
where an Eared Grebe had been reported. Mercifully, the EARED GREBE was still
present between the dam and the peninsula.

Good Birding!
