I've had a few interesting birds and FOS (first of season) arivals this week in
NW Tennessee.
Monday, March 22
Trenton, Gibson County

Barn Swallow (FOS) - 1 was seen just west of Trenton
Also had a Krider's Red-tailed Hawk and a dark morph adult Western Red-tailed
Hawk right across the road from each other just west of Trenton.

Tuesday, March 23
Dyer & Lake Counties

Great Egret - 2 (FOS) were seen on Hwy. 104W west of Finley in Dyer Co.
Greater Yellowlegs - 37 were at the jct. of Hwy 79 & the Great River Rd in Lake
Co.
Lesser Yellowlegs - 3 were at the jct. of Hwy 79 & the Great River Rd in Lake
Co.

I did not find any Golden-Plovers yest despite looking in several spots where
they are regular in migration in Dyer & Lake Counties.

I had Cooper's (3) & Sharp-shinned Hawks (2) in scattered locations in both
counties so they're on the move as well.

Wednesday, March 24
Trenton, Gibson Co.

The Purple Martin colony in my yard is now up to 6 adult males...still waiting
on the first female to show up, should be any day now.

Good birding,

Mark Greene
Trenton, TN
Gibson County
