The Nashville chapter of TOS will take a field trip on Saturday, January 26 to the Tennessee NWR--Duck River Unit, near New Johnsonville in Humphreys County, and we invite all birders to join us. We will be looking for winter visitors such as ducks, loons, gulls, eagles, geese, hawks and sparrows. For those in the Nashville area, we will initially meet at 7:00 am at the Bellevue Park & Ride lot, next to I-40 exit 196 in Bellevue on the southwest side of Davidson County. Then we will car pool to the Duck River. Steve and Cyndi Routledge will meet us at the corner of Hwy 70 and Long Street in New Johnsonville and lead the trip from there. Anyone who desires to go directly to New Johnsonville should be at the second rendezvous point, mentioned above, no later than 8:30 am. After a brief restroom stop we will head to the refuge. The outing will last most of the day. Bring a scope if you have one as well as lunch, water, and wear warm clothing.
